Girlfriends visit Jack Daniels playday

On one of the hottest days of the year in Tennessee, we decided to take a trip to the home of a famous TN institution--the Jack Daniels distillery. Here we are with a lifesized status of Mr. Jack himself, a small man in stature, but big in ideas about whiskey making. Supposedly, he was a ladies man, so we are getting the vibes. Hot.

Our fine guide (center below) told us great stories of whiskey making in this dry county in Lynchburg. They have 77? storage warehouses where millions of gallons of whiskey are stored in oak barrels. For only about $9,000-$11,000, you can purchase your own single barrel whiskey that makes about 280 bottles.
They even throw in the barrel for free.

The big hooded building you see is where they burn wood to make the charcoal that makes Jack Daniels whiskey so sipping good. It is filtered through charcoal to make it smooth and give it the amber color.

Our day could not be complete without lunch at Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House. Fried chicken and pork roast, apples with Jack Daniels, corn, fried okra, pinto beans, cornbread muffins, cabbage casserole, carrot cake, and sweet tea!

We stopped in Shelbyville on the way home at the famous J. Jordan's on the square. Fun fashion.
